I made a dream come true for my husband and booked a full monty gift voucher as an anniversary gift for him. On the day I tagged along to watch him learn to ride a motorcycle for the first time. I was so impressed with the warm personality and confidence both instructors showed I too ended up booking myself a full monty package the following week. For someone who has only been on a dirt bike on a farm a couple of times I was probably like every other newbie and started off very nervous and very wonky but with guidance and words of confidence from the instructors my handling and confidence levels elevated. Thanks to the skills and knowledge at Rider Training!! We now have our motorcycle learner licences and are the proud owners of motorcycles. Can’t wait to go for the restricted training package with them.

As a male in his 40's who had not ridden for over 20 years I approached the course with quite a few nerves. Steve conducted the Intro course in a professional, warm and welcoming manner which put me at ease immediately. His instructions were clear and concise which helped me tackle the basic skills on a purpose designed course. Steve was knowledgeable and gave good feedback but above all was friendly and I would recommend this course without reservation to anyone who would like to begin riding. Thank you.

These guys were awesome!! I did the full monty package, which ended up being the best decision as I had only ridden a scooter before. The guys here provided one on one training. They were super friendly and taught me everything I needed to know to safely use the motorcycle. I highly recommend Rider Training!! Don't hesitate to book :)

I did the intro course and can honestly say it was both hugely helpful and fun. I had never ridden a motorbike before but Steve had me feeling comfortable and confident on the bike in no time at all.
I highly recommend this course for anyone who is new to biking as you have will plenty of time to learn everything and the one on one tuition means the lesson will move at the right pace for you.
On top of this Steve and Dawn are both really friendly and extremely knowledgeable so your in safe hands!
It was certainly money well spent.

What do I have to bring?
Please have a read of the Course Requirements and all will be explained.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Training takes place regardless of weather. Unfortunately riding in the rain is part of Motorcycling, so why not start now?  However, lessons may be rescheduled when severe weather conditions warrant.  (Strong Winds and / or Heavy Rain). This is why we need a contactable phone number when booking. We don't mind training in the rain but do understand if you do have concerns about bad weather.

What kind of Motorcycles do you use for Training?

We have three late-model Yamaha Trickers.  They are a 250cc, single cylinder 4-stroke, are very learner friendly and suit a broad range of people.  They are that popular, many of our students don’t want to give them back to us at the end of the lesson! We also have a Suzuki GN125 available on special request, which is ideal for the shorter person (>5ft3).

Can a mate and I take the course at the same time?   Is there a discount?
Yes. We can book you both in together, depending if we are running one or two bikes we may be able to train you at the same time.  Please check when booking if we are able to run both bikes. You can receive $10 off each person when booking together, just ask.

I already own a Motorcycle, can I do the test on it?
Yes you can but it must comply with a few requirements.  It must be a Road Registered Motorcycle (LAMS approved) in a road worthy condition and can be either auto or manual.  You will need to arrange to have the motorcycle dropped off at the training ground (trailer, licensed friend rides it for you etc) as you are not permitted to ride it to the training grounds until you have a Learners Licence.

If you have any queries or questions feel free to drop us a line at info@ridertraining.co.nz and we will get back to you with an answer.
